| Student Profile: Joe Hand |

His favorite aspect of being a WGU student, Joe says, "I love the mentor concept, the great learning tools, the quality of education materials, and the cost. My mentor, Kristy Hodson, has been exceptional. WGU is a class act. I appreciate the opportunity WGU offers by allowing me to leverage my experience and prior degrees. My work experience gives me a 'head start' on the assessments, but I still find a learning experience as I go through the materials and text books. It helps 'fill in the blanks' so to speak." His biggest challenge as a student, he says it is moving too quickly through the material - trying to balance speed and learning. After Joe finishes his bachelor's degree, he plans to pursue an MBA. He currently holds a senior level IT management position and is content with it, so he will not be looking for new employment after graduating. Outside of work and WGU, Joe loves to water ski, snow ski and play basketball. He also enjoys travel, especially to New York City, Colorado, Lake Tahoe and West Palm Beach. |

Joe Hand started WGU in 2009. He is pursing a bachelor of science degree in Business - IT Management. He lives in Indianapolis, Indiana - the crossroads of America - and says it is a "beautiful city." However, he regularly takes trips to West Palm Beach, Florida to visit his family. Joe has been in the IT industry for over twenty years. He has worked as a programmer, systems analyst, project leader, team leader, IT consultant, and senior IT executive. Early in his career, he received associate degrees in accounting and computer technology.
